What a big nonsense it is? I am afraid it is right. Samsung said good bye to Alpha processors now and start to cooperate with ARM. Is it ironic that after Compaq will cooperate with Intel also Samsung? (ARM is under wings of Intel)

Compaq today shows the future of DEC's Alpha processors again. EV7 model will use 21364 name and it will NOT be followed by 21464 (EV8) (0.13micron technology) but by EV79 model in 2004.

Alpha EC68CX on 1.5 GHz end next year

Samsung Japan Corp. prepares implementing of copper technology for processors from EC68DC. Its introduction they plan at 1H 2001. In the end of 2001 Samsung want to output Alpha EV68CX processor with SOI technology (silicon-on-insulator).

Cool Chip Tutorial was the name of big presentation which was today in Dan Carmel Hotel In Haifa (Israel) during 32nd Annual International Symposium on Microarchitecture. Presentation of Kathryn Wilcox and Srilatha Manne from Alpha Development Group (Compaq Computer Corp.) was named “Alpha Processors: A History of Power Issues and A Look to the Future”.

New Alpha processor should be in the end of 2000 or in the beginning of 2001. It will use 0.18micron technology.

Also Samsung Semiconductor prepares future of the world of Alpha processors. In 3Q 1999 they want to present 21264B processor using 0.18micron technology with internal frequency 1 GHz.
